Competition of VEX Educational Robotics to Advance Girls Education (COVERAGE) is a project to inspire and support female middle and high school students to pursue STEM careers in West Virginia. Through attendance and participation in the robotics clubs and competitions, these students are predicted to become more knowledgeable and interested in STEM disciplines. COVERAGE is funded by the Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation. In previous years, we helped teachers to organize all-girls robotics clubs in Kanawha, Fayette and Lincoln Counties. For 2022-23, the project will additionally cover Putnam and Clay counties.

The COVERAGE program provides support to new or existing all-girls teams in the VEX Robotics Competition, VEX IQ Competition, and/or RECF Aerial Drone Competition. In addition, we have equipment grants available for VIQC and ADC teams.

The COVERAGE Expo, May 10, 2023 at the Clay Center for the Arts & Sciences in Charleston, will bring together participating COVERAGE teams, other all-girls robotics teams, and individual girls who are interested in STEM or robotics. Teams and individual students will hear from inspiring speakers, share their accomplishments throughout the season, and play some demonstration matches. Additionally, student award winners will be recognized by the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT). Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
