In FIRST LEGO League Explore, teams of students ages 6-10 focus on the fundamentals of engineering as they explore real-world problems, learn to design, and code and create unique solutions made with LEGO bricks and powered by LEGO Education SPIKE Essential or WeDo 2.0. At Expos, teams have an informal opportunity to share their work and discovery with volunteer judges and the community.
The WV Robotics Alliance coordinates with schools, universities, and other partners to provide equipment, staffing, and support for Expos throughout the state. The WV Robotics Alliance also coordinates the West Virginia FLLE State Expo, which is held in December at the Fairmont State University Falcon Center. The State Expo is co-located with the FLL Challenge state championship, providing Explore students with an exciting opportunity to experience the next level of FIRST robotics.
FIRST LEGO League Explore is presented by FIRST, a US-registered 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization. FIRST’s mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
